This book (photos and text) examines as closely as possible what happens to the flesh of dead birds (cormorants, gulls) once their decomposition process is advanced. These birds, I found, stranded, during walks along the sea in Magdalen Islands (Quebec) where I live during the summer and where I will recharge my batteries while watching the immense horizon unfold before a still raw nature. I photographed these birds with a macro lens to capture as closely as possible the range of shapes and textures they acquire in death. Fascinated by the transformation properties of fire, I also burned their carcasses as a respectful ritual. It was for me a way to tame death as a natural phenomenon and to unveil a form of beauty.
